Responsibilities
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
- Preparing computer files of artwork or other materials for printing by creating a plate that can be used to print multiple copies of the same image
- Positioning and aligning sheets of paper in the die cutting machine to ensure accurate cuts
- Monitoring the condition of paper, inks, and other materials used in the printing process to ensure that they are operating within safe parameters
- Operating the cutting machines to cut materials according to specifications
- Performing maintenance on equipment such as replacing cutting blades or lubricating bearings to ensure it runs smoothly
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
- Test operation of machines periodically
- Fix issues that might occur during the shift
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
- Maintain activity logs
Requirements.
- Proven 2+ years’ experience as a Machine Operator
- Experience in the printing and packaging industry highly preferred.
- Proven experience as MK Foiling & Die cutter operator
- Experience in printing, graphics, corrugated packaging.
- Previous knowledge and experience with cutter machines, operation, and set-up practices.
- Post High school certificate or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
- Good eye for detail and safety-conscious
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time
- Understanding of production procedures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
