Department: Finance Department
JOB PURPOSE
- The accountant will work in conjunction with the Finance Manager, to perform accounting and administrative activities and maintaining accurate financial records.
- To ensure the overall integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger as a basis for the preparation of financial and management reports including detailed review and analysis of financial performance
- To support in budget preparation and planning
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBS
- Maintain the General ledger including the management of all the Centre’s bank accounts and suspense accounts
- Ensuring that all books of accounts are properly maintained and that financial reports are accurate Management of Supplier’s/payables accounts
- Management of the asset register.
- Payroll processing and statutory filling
- Invoicing and receipting of fees and any other monies payable to Moi Educational Centre
- Collection and banking of all revenue
- Analyzing monies payable to contractors of private transport
- Petty cash preparation and reconciliations
- Front office support
- Back-office management
- In charge of Accounts Assistants

QUALIFICATIONS AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business related field
- A qualified Accountant (CPA-K or equivalent)
- Five (5) years accounting experience including preparation of management accounting reports, maintaining accurate accounting records and effective control of budgets;
- Proficiency in computing packages and other accounting software packages

- Possess ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload while observing set deadlines.
- Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity, accuracy, confidentiality and integrity when dealing with internal and external customers.
- Excellent communication, analytical skills, with outstanding reporting & Customer Service skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Establish and maintain a system that fosters a culture of teamwork, employee empowerment and commitment to the departments and the Centre’s goals.
