The position
This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as a Junior data Protection Specialist, joining our Legal & Compliance team and reporting directly to our Data Protection Officer.Remote has a global footprint worldwide, and we are reinforcing our team in the Data Protection area.As a Junior Data Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Data Protection Team in implementing and maintaining a data protection and privacy program for Remote. You will assist in the management of vendor assessments, record of processing activities, and data subject’s requests. You will also be responsible for addressing the challenges faced in these areas and ensuring compliance with various data protection regulations.This is a unique opportunity to join a team of a promising player in an emerging field. In this role you will work directly with all functional areas, ensuring compliance across the organisation and support Data Protection team in daily activities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and proven experience in supporting organisations in compliance with the regulation.
- At least 2 years of experience in data protection and privacy management, with a focus on vendor assessments, record of processing activities, and data subject requests.
- Ability to:
- make sound judgements regarding data protection risks
- interpret legislation and develop subject specific guidance/advice
- conduct research, analyse results and practically apply to real life scenarios
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Verbal and written fluency in the English language
- It’s not required to have experience working remotely, but it’s considered a plus.
- Exposure to the California Consumer Privacy Act, the Brazilian General Data Protection Law, the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act and other global data protection legislation is considered a strong plus.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Data Protection Team with their day-to-day responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with all the other teams at Remote to ensure that our contractual and regulatory requirements are being followed and that our processes are being effectively improved.
- Assist in managing the vendor assessment process by conducting reviews of vendors, assessing their data protection practices and ensuring their compliance with regulations and policies.
- Assist in maintaining the record of processing activities and ensuring it is up to date and accurate.
- Respond to data access requests from individuals and ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
- Undertaking research on Global data protection laws to provide effective support for the business
- Conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) as required and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries on data protection matters by internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify privacy risks and help mitigate those risks.
- Produce training on data protection matters for all teams at Remote.
- Assist with Remote’s data protection champions programme.
