Our client, a thriving and innovative organization in the financial services industry, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operations Officer (COO) for their operations in Kenya. The ideal candidate should be Kenyan or reside in Kenya, possessing a deep understanding of the local market and industry landscape. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO will play a crucial role in driving the organizational vision, operational strategy, and growth initiatives to enhance the company’s success.
Objectives of this Role
– Collaborate with the CEO in setting and executing the organizational vision, operations strategy, and hiring levels.
– Translate strategic plans into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
– Oversee company operations and employee productivity, fostering a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive while meeting organizational goals.
– Direct the collections, operations, IT, and learning areas within the organization.
– Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of top talent.
– Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations and take appropriate action when necessary.
Responsibilities
– Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement.
– Implement business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term objectives in partnership with the CEO.
– Oversee operations, collections, IT, learning and development, and data functions, collaborating with the CEO in sales management to budget sufficient investment capital for growth targets.
– Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to achieve investor targets for growth and profitability.
– Monitor performance using tracking software and take corrective measures when necessary, providing detailed updates and forecasts.
– Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
– Direct the daily operations of the business, coordinating with various departments including human resources, legal, sales, marketing, manufacturing, accounting, and IT.
– Work closely with the senior management team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies to foster growth, profitability, and efficiency within the company.
Required Skills and Qualifications
– At least 10 years experience in the Financial Services Industry (Lending/ Banking)
– Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles.
– Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
– Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
– Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
– Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
– A Bachelors Degree Required
– Fundraising experience to support the organization’s growth initiatives.
– International business experience, providing valuable global perspectives.
