About the role:
This position will report directly to Karen Levy, Fit for Purpose Partner and Co-founder, and will involve a range of responsibilities spanning operations, project management, and research. The right candidate for this position will be an analytical thinker, technically savvy, a fast learner, and able to pivot effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will be willing to assist Karen in all aspects of running a small, but growing, consultancy, and eager to take on new responsibilities over time. Karen is a well-known and respected member of the global health and development community, and she is excited to be working with and mentoring the next generation of high-impact leaders. Responsibilities:
- Own responsibility for organization-wide operational excellence, working collaboratively with team members to do so. This includes proactively developing, fine-tuning, and maintaining the firm’s operational systems, processes, and tools.
- Ensure the firm’s work remains internally and externally efficient as it grows, maximizing value and impact for our clients and the causes they serve.
- Contribute to the development and execution of operational policies and procedures.
- Plan and execute operational activities using Toggl, Airtable, Notion, Google Workspace, and other relevant tools.
- Maintain project documentation and internal knowledge bases.
- Work closely with Karen to manage projects, support clients and partners, and engage with external stakeholders.
- Conduct research and analysis for clients and stakeholders on discrete topics within global health, international development, and organizational management.
- Develop memos, presentations, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
- Assist with project proposal development and coordination.
- Assist with vendor and partner management, including contract management and performance monitoring.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, broadly defined (economics, business administration, global studies, international development, engineering, public health, others).
- A minimum of four years of relevant work experience. Management consulting experience is a plus, but not required.
- Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in global health and development; previous experience working with an NGO or similar non-profit is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, whether over email, in meetings, or through drafting decks and written memos.
- Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and simple models.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work remotely with clients, sub-contractors, and team members across different time zones and cultures.
- Must have consistent high quality internet access; ability and willingness to collaborate over video and audio.
- Ability and willingness to travel to Kenya and other countries from time to time (perhaps 2-4 trips per year).
- Knowledge of Google Workspace, Airtable, Toggl, and Notion are strongly preferred. Keenness to learn new platforms is a must!
- Experience managing budgets is a plus.
