Global Health Strategies (GHS) is excited to announce the launch of the GHS Fellows Program-Africa, a unique opportunity for recent college/university graduates to gain hands-on training and mentorship in global health communications and advocacy. We are seeking driven and passionate individuals who are ready to make a difference in their communities and the African continent.
Position: GHS FellowProgram
Duration: 12 months
Location(s): Kenya, South Africa
Compensation: Monthly stipend of $1,000
Program OverviewThe GHS Fellows Program-Africa is designed to equip young professionals with the necessary skills and experience to excel in global health communications and advocacy. Fellows will have the opportunity to work closely with high-profile clients on impactful projects, attend trainings and presentations by leaders in the global health field, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and implementing communications and advocacy strategies for global health issues.
- Pitch news and stories related to projects and clients.
- Coordinate press briefings and media engagements
- Conduct media mapping and build media networks.
- Draft digital and social media content.
- Contribute to the research and writing of strategy memos, issue briefs, and policy papers.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage about global health issues.
- Provide logistics support for conferences, meetings, and events.
- Manage databases of global health media, policymakers, and opinion leaders
Qualifications
- Recent college graduate from an African university
- Strong academic background with a focus on communications, public health, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in global health and communications and/or advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in digital and social media platforms.
- Prior experience in communications, advocacy, or global health is a plus.
