Job Purpose:

  • The HSE Supervisor will assist the HSE Officer/SPT in developing, reviewing, implementing, and monitoring the company’s environmental and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) management system. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety audits, providing HSE training, and maintaining HSE statistical records.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and state regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and  Department of Transportation (DOT).
  •  Provide HSE training, awareness, and induction to staff, contractors, and other relevant parties on-site.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations, and follow up to ensure measures are implemented.
  •  Investigate incidents and make initial recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  •  Assist in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
  •  Keep HSE statistical records, including incidents, accidents, near-misses, and working hours on-site.
  •  Ensure the well-being of the workforce and compliance with HSE regulations within the plant.
  •  Maintain and update HSE registers, including renewals of permits, licenses, etc.
  •  Assist the Plant Manager in implementing accident-prevention and environmental impact activities on-site.
  •  Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to reduce risks, including arranging medical checkups for the staff.
  •  Provide expertise on various specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, use of PPEs, and occupational diseases.
  •  Act as the Emergency Coordinator on-site and implement emergency and crisis management plans.
  •  Monitor the environmental footprint on-site and compile monthly site HSE reports.
  •  Collaborate with internal teams, including Production and HSE teams, and external stakeholders such as local authorities and service suppliers/contractors.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a Degree or Diploma in environmental studies or relevant field.
  • Fluent knowledge of English.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an HSE Officer, preferably in a vegetable oil extraction plant or a busy manufacturing plant.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with HSE management systems in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of ISO safety, quality, and environmental standards (preferred).
  • Basic management skills courses (preferred).
  • Firefighting & HSE basic courses (preferred).
  • Auditing and Root Cause investigation technique.
  • Project management skills.
  • Quality control and assurance knowledge.
  • OHS certification or equivalent.
  • Certified risk assessor (would be an added advantage).
