Position: Clean Energy Infrastructure Deployment Intern

Location: Remote, flexible within the U.S.

Type: Full-time or part-time, up to 3 months

ABOUT CATF: 

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid global development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. This is accomplished through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with the private sector. CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink their impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of 150+ experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world. 

 ROLE: 

This intern’s role is to support the work of CATF’s Clean Energy Infrastructure Deployment program. The aim of this program is to identify, develop, advance, and implement solutions to increase the pace, scale, and diversity of clean energy infrastructure in a fair and equitable manner. This program focuses on siting, permitting, and building community acceptance for renewable energy and electricity transmission. The intern will support research and writing tasks to further ongoing project work and program advocacy efforts. This role will potentially include collaboration with external organizations.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Writing: Write briefs, memos, blog posts, and other pieces to concisely summarize research findings or policy developments for internal or general audiences.
  • Analysis in support of policy development and advocacy: Directly undertake, support, or oversee research related to policy assessment and advocacy. Areas can include policy analysis and data analysis.
  • Contractor engagement: Work together with project partners and contractors external to CATF to further project work.
  • Operational support: Provide support to Clean Energy Infrastructure Deployment program efforts on existing research tasks.

 Qualifications:

  • Education/Background
    • Currently a student in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Skills
    • Strong coordination skills and ability to collaborate with external partners
    • Excellent attention to detail; detail-oriented proofreader and editor
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Outstanding problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Strong time management skills
    • Strong computer skills, including comfort with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience
    • Experience or classwork in energy, climate, and/or infrastructure research, analysis or related work preferred
    • Experience conducting research and/or completing literature reviews preferred
    • Experience presenting complex topics in approachable and useful ways, whether verbally or in writing, preferred
  • Personality/behavioral
    • Self-starter who enjoys taking initiative and helping others
    • Consistent follow-through, highly organized, and a commitment to high-quality work

    • Flexible and able to work with colleagues across time zones

Compensation and Location: 

Clean Energy Infrastructure Deployment program interns will be paid at an hourly rate of $20.00 per hour.
