Who can participate

Registration for the PEC-G is completely free and must be done exclusively at Brazilian embassies or consulates, without the need for intermediaries.

Participation in PEC-G is aimed at students from countries with which Brazil has a framework agreement in the area of ​​education, culture or science and technology. The list of countries participating in PEC-G is available  here .

Candidates must go to the Brazilian embassy or consulate to enroll in the program selection process. It is important to find out about the  participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)  in Brazil and the courses offered. At the time of registration, the candidate must indicate one or two vacancy options (course and HEI where he would like to study).

Conditions for joining the PEC-G

  • Be a national and resident of a country participating in the PEC-G .
  • Be at least 18 years of age by the date specified in the Notice.
  • Having attended secondary/secondary education outside Brazil .
    • Obs.: Candidates who have not completed high school by the date of enrollment in the PEC-G may apply and must present the High School Completion Certificate when enrolling in the Brazilian HEI, if selected.
  • Have a global arithmetic average of all subjects studied in high school/secondary education equal to or greater than 60% .
    • Note: In the case of candidates from countries where Celpe-Bras is not applied, it is also necessary to have a final average of the subject in the official language of their country, attended in high school/secondary education, equal to or greater than 60%.
  • Possess the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners – Celpe-Bras .
    • Obs. 1: Candidates from the country applying the Celpe-Bras exam must present the aforementioned certificate or proof of enrollment in the Celpe-Bras exam for the first or second half of 2023.
  • Obs. 2: The candidate from a country where Celpe-Bras is not applied must take the aforementioned exam in Brazil, only once, after completing the preparatory Portuguese for Foreigners course for the exam, at an accredited HEI. The candidate NOT APPROVED in the exam will NOT be able to enter the PEC-G and must return immediately to the country of origin.
  • Have one or more financial officers who prove they are able to send funds to the student during the entire period of study. Although places are free, PEC-G is not a scholarship program.
  • Commit to returning to your home country after graduation . The diplomas of students trained in the PEC-G can only be collected at the Brazilian diplomatic representation where they applied for the Program.

Applications will not be accepted from:

  • Brazilian citizen, even if he holds dual nationality;
  • bearer of any temporary or permanent visa for Brazil;
  • candidate who has attended high school in Brazil, in whole or in part;
  • candidate benefited from vacancies in previous PEC-G selection processes and disconnected from the Program;
  • candidate selected in previous PEC-G selection processes who failed to enroll in the HEI without justification;
  • candidate who does not have a final overall average in all subjects studied in secondary/high school;
  • candidate from a country that does not administer the Celpe-Bras exam who does not have an average of 60% or more in the subject of the official language of his/her country, attended in high school/secondary education;
  • candidate from a country administering the Celpe-Bras exam who does not present the aforementioned certificate or proof of enrollment in the Celpe-Bras exam for the first or second half of 2023.

1.4. application process

To enroll in the PEC-G selection process, the candidate must:

Step 1: Complete the pre-registration form .

Step 2: Go to the Brazilian embassy or consulate where you will register to submit the documentation required in the Notice and fill in the following documents:

  • Registration form, to be completed with the help of the PEC-G operator at the embassy/consulate; It is Term of Commitment for Enrollment (TCI) , to be generated by the enrollment system, checked and signed by the candidate.

1.4.1. Required documentation

The candidate must submit the following documents to the Brazilian embassy or consulate:

  • Original and copy of high school/secondary school completion certificate or equivalent document.
    • Note: Applicants who have not completed high school/secondary education by the application date must submit a declaration of probable graduation by the end of 2023.
  • Original and copy of school transcript with a list of all subjects taken and grades obtained during all grades of secondary/high school;
  • Original and copy of the birth certificates of the candidate, father and mother .
    • Note: In countries where the document does not exist, Birth Certificates may be replaced by originals and copies of identity cards or passports, as long as the bearer’s affiliation, place and date of birth are mentioned.
  • Original and copy of the Celpe-Bras approval certificate , in any edition, or proof of enrollment for the first or second half of 2023 exam.
  • Original medical certificate of physical and mental health issued no later than 90 days prior to submission of application. The certificate must inform whether the candidate suffers from a chronic illness or is receiving any type of treatment.
    • Attention: the data contained in the medical certificate will be used only for information purposes to the HEIs , so that they can, to the extent of their possibilities, provide eventual support and follow-up to the student with a chronic illness or who is undergoing treatment. Therefore, it is important that the medical certificate presents relevant and correct information about the candidate’s physical and mental health. Under the terms of the General Data Protection Law of Brazil (LGPD), the data contained in the document will only be used within the scope of the PEC-G selection process.
