PATH Kenya is the lead implementing Partner for the USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto which is a USAID project funded by PEPFAR. The project’s focus is to increase use of high-quality, county-led health and social services, prevent new HIV infections, and reduce OVC and AGYW vulnerability. The project is implemented by PATH Kenya with ADS Nyanza as a consortium partner. The project is implemented at the county level, in the community and health facilities in the counties of Homa Bay, Migori, Nyamira, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga and Kisii, in close collaboration with and support of county health management teams, department of children and social services and the Ministry of Health of Kenya.

PATH Kenya through the USAID Nuru ya Mtoto Projects seeks to recruit fifty (50) HIV Testing Services (HTS) Providers volunteers in the project-supported Health facilities in Nyamira (10), Vihiga (15) and Kisumu (8), Kakamega (17) County. The HTS providers will support implementation of differentiated service delivery at the facility and community settings with their focus on group health education to clients, Targeted testing, first line support to GBV survivors and linkage.

Duration: 3 months.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Working with the MOH and other program staff, ensure streamlined patient flow to avoid missed opportunities in screening for HTS and Prep
  • Provide individual /group health education to clients as a strategy of mobilizing clients for HIV testing including HIV prevention interventions (Prep, VMMC (Kisumu)) as may be applicable.
  • Provide confidential HIV counseling and testing to persons at risk for HIV infection as per Kenya HTS national guidelines.
  • Offer voluntary safe and ethical Index testing services while observing the basic minimum standards.
  • Offer first line support (LIVES) to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) including those experiencing intimate partner violence in HIV settings.
  • Address issues of behavior change in relation to HIV and ART
  • Ensure complete linkage to care and treatment and /or prevention services including psychosocial support to clients seeking HTS&Prep services at the facility and community settings.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, timely referrals, and appropriate follow up of outcomes for clients seeking other medical services.
  • Compile, interrogate and submit HTS reports as required.
  • Participate actively in the facility’s Quality assurance activities (internal &external), Case discussions (MDT), Infection prevention activities among others.

USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto Project

  • Carry out other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Desired Qualification:

  • Certificate/ Diploma in Community Health or any health-related course from a recognized institution
  • Certificate in HTS counseling from a NASCOP accredited institutions
  • Must have been trained in current HTS Algorithm
  • Trained in partner notification services.
  • At least 2 years’ practical work experience at a HIV testing and Service (HTS) setting
