Job title: Credit Intern
location: Nairobi
About the client: Our client deals with financial services. The credit intern will be responsible for supporting the credit management team in analyzing and assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and also work closely with the credit analysts and underwriters to gather and analyze relevant information, prepare comprehensive credit reports, and provide valuable insights to facilitate credit decisions.
Responsibilities
- Gather and review financial documents, such as income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and bank statements.
- Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, market conditions, and economic factors impacting credit risk.
- Support credit analysts in preparing credit reports and summaries, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date credit files and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and legal, to gather necessary information for credit assessments.
- Assist in assessing and monitoring credit limits, terms, and conditions for new and existing customers.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of credit risk assessment models and processes.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to credit management.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in credit analysis.
Qualification & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and ratios.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
- Knowledge of banking or financial services training
- A trainable’ individual with Finance / Accounting background
