Summary: The U.S. Mission in Nairobi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Computer Programmer.
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties:
The position incumbent, as part of the Business Process Solutions Team (BPS), designs and develops both new and enhancements to software applications that meet Mission Nairobi’s specifications. Additionally, responsibilities include providing Tier II and III level application support to customers, which includes
users and IT specialists. The IT support includes, but is not limited to, development, installation, quality assurance, and problem resolution tasks for enterprise and post developed applications. Provides data analytics support for the mission. Position will be supervised by IRM USDH personnel.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, computer languages, or software application development is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Five years of dedicated experience as an application developer, computer programmer, or data analyst at a medium to large-sized firm is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV English (Fluent, Writing/Reading/Speaking) is required (This may be tested).
Job Knowledge:
User support experience in assisting and training personnel in network applications. Business analysis and user requirements gathering. Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, or programming skills in .NET, C# and/or VB. Experience creating web user interface using ASP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
Experience with database development, SQL and ORM technologies. Microsoft SharePoint configuration and customizations including other Microsoft cloud and data mining products.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must possess strong communications skills with the ability to interpret and/or discuss information with others so as provide advice and recommendations involving somewhat complex issues. Must have a range of technical abilities to independently understand and resolve routine and non-routine software/hardware issues. Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
