About the Program:
The Mentor will encourage adolescent and youth to increase uptake of sexual reproductive health services. The role is expected to build their life skills capacity to enable them to make informed decisions in their lives, build their self-esteem and negotiation capacity to build healthy relationships around them.
The position reports to the Project Officer-Adolescent and Youth.
Location: Kibera
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted information and messaging to mentees on a weekly basis
- Identify issues affecting mentees and submit a comprehensive report of the same.
- Facilitate access to and referral for Health services, psychosocial, Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) services and any other cases affecting adolescent and youth at the community level.
- Assist in mobilization of key stakeholders within the community.
- Participate in planning and implementation of significant days targeted to celebrate girls.
- Active participation and implementation of the menstrual hygiene lab for dissemination of health information to the mentees and the larger community.
- Referral of Health, social, psychosocial, Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and any other cases affecting adolescent and youth at the community level.
- Household visits to inform the program on the services to be offered and the impact of the program to the mentees.
- Work hand in hand with the project staff for follow ups.
- Participate in monthly data review and feedback.
Academic Qualifications and Experience:
- Has completed high school with a minimum grade of C+ and enrolled in college/university.
- Experience in safe spaces mentorship programs.
- Kibera Resident.
- Aged 20-25 years.
- An outstanding member of the community.
- Passionate about working with adolescents and youth.
- Able to dedicate 2-3 days a week to the project.
- Self-driven and a thirst for self-improvement.
- Well conversant with reproductive health issues.
- Ability to identify adolescent and youth social and health issues.
Compensation:
Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience in line with CFK Africa Salary Band for the role.
