The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) is offering a unique opportunity for young individuals aged 18-28 in Egypt, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Thailand, and Tunisia. The CIF Youth Fellowship aims to develop the next generation of leaders in climate action by providing hands-on experience and professional growth opportunities. The fellowship is implemented in partnership with six Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and focuses on various areas such as nature-based solutions, clean energy, adaptation and climate resilience, energy access, and gender and social inclusion. As a CIF Youth Fellow, you will work on real-world projects alongside experienced professionals, gaining mentoring, training, and networking opportunities. Applications are open until July 7, 2023, and an information session will be held on June 19.
The CIF Fellowship is open to individuals between 18-28 years old residing in Egypt, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Thailand, or Tunisia with valid work authorization. Candidates should have a passion for climate action and hold an undergraduate degree or be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. The program aims for equitable representation across race, ethnicity, gender, indigenous peoples, local communities, and marginalized groups. The fellowship is a one-year program, running from September 2023 to August 2024, with the possibility of adjustment. Fellows can work part-time or full-time, ranging from 16 to 40 hours per week. Fluency in English and the native/local working language is required, along with good writing skills in both languages.
Selected fellows will receive a stipend tailored to the cost of living in their respective countries, in-kind logistical support, specialized training, and professional development sessions. Each country has specific thematic areas for the fellowship, including clean energy in Egypt, climate resilience in India, sustainable forest management in Jamaica, sustainability and climate finance in Kenya, sustainable land use practices and clean energy in Thailand, and climate finance in Tunisia.
To apply, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements and fill out the application form. The CIF Youth Fellowship is a collaborative effort between CIF, the United Nations Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth (OSGEY), and the Arab Youth Center (AYCCC). This is a remarkable opportunity to join a community of like-minded leaders and make a tangible impact on global climate change.
