Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the effective implementation of the Right to Food project through planning, organizing, and monitoring of implementation plans. 
  • Coordinate the social accountability mechanisms envisioned by the project, as well as the relevant engagements with both duty bearers and right holders with a view to deepeningthe right to adequate food in Vihiga County, and by extension, the country.
  • Support the Programs Manager in all related project components, as well as other duties assigned within the Right to Food project and beyond. 
  • Coordinating, in liaison with the relevant staff, the monitoring and evaluation component of the project. This may include undertaking periodic visits to program site, which is Vihiga County. 
  • Ensure timely submission of programme reports; monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in line with the TISA policies and specific project requirements. 
  • Manage the programme’s budgets by monitoring expenditure, identification of budgets gaps and proper accounts to donor funds. This task will include timely reports to donors and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Track and monitor project deliverables using M&E frameworks, produce M&E reports defining project progress and analyzing results in contribution to the overall strategic result area. 
  • Represent the program in external functions and events as needed. 
  • Provide technical support which includes research, advocacy, and visibility for the project. 
  • In conjunction with the communications department, initiate and participate inmainstream and social media engagements related to the Right to Food advocacy. 
  • Collaborate with relevant staff to generate publications and communication materials that enhance TISA’s advocacy work. 
  • With guidance of the Program Manager, design projects, workplans and schedules, and ensure their successful implementation for the realization of TISA strategic goals. 

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences preferably in Political Science, Law, Community Development, or a related field. 
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in project management.
  • 3 years’ work experience on social accountability in the agriculture sector.
  • Previous experience working in an NGO in the governance context with a focus on food security or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience working with duty bearers at various levels of governance in Kenya. 
  • Conversant with BMZ grant guidelines and requirements will be an added advantage.
  • Clear communication with good analytical, presentation and digital skills 
  • Demonstratable project management and administration skills. Related professional qualifications will be an added advantage. 
  • Strong research and report writing skills. 
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills. 
  • Proven experience in managing partnerships particularly in the agriculture sector.
