This position will provide HR support to the University, for effective delivery of HR services and functions, and the day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HRM in enforcing the organizational human resource strategy, plans, policies and procedures in compliance with the business strategy growth plans and objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective people management programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and support adherence to the University HR policies and procedures in line with institutional objectives.
  • Support the acquisition of talent by preparing job descriptions, posting adverts and managing the hiring process.
  • Create and implement effective on-boarding plans.
  • Create files for new staff ascertaining that all critical documents are collected and filed, while maintaining employee records according to policy and legal requirements.
  • Prepare payroll documentation including entering new staff into the payroll system.
  • Manage records for staff on probation and follow through on their confirmation or any other required action upon completion of probation.
  • Support the HRM in instituting a culture of performance through disseminating annual performance appraisal forms and following up with the various Schools/Departments to analyze the feedback.
  • Support the HRM in assessing staff training needs, scheduling training, evaluating the impact of training and development programs.
  • Track and update leave records ensuring they are always accurate and current.
  • Coordinate the separation management process ensuring that proper clearance and exiting procedures are undertaken, including the necessary internal communications.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate weekly reports to the Human Resource Manager.
  • Support the University in handling disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing employment and statutory regulations as guided by Labour Laws.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Social Sciences Degree with a Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a HR generalist role, preferably in the education sector.
  • Must be a valid member of IHRM
  • ERP knowledge will be an added advantage

  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMIS is a plus

  • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
  • Strong ethics and reliability
