Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Manage the company’s social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding to comments and messages. Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging and informative content for various communication channels, such as the company website, social media platforms, blog posts, and presentations. This may involve writing, editing, and proofreading content.
  • Branding and Messaging: Assist in developing and maintaining the company’s brand identity and messaging guidelines. Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all communication channels and materials.
  • External Communications: Assist in managing external communications, including media relations, press releases, and media visits. Help maintain positive relationships with the media and handle inquiries from journalists.
  • Research and Market Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and market analysis. Stay informed about relevant news and developments that may impact the company’s communications strategy.
  • Media Monitoring: Monitor media coverage and industry news to identify potential opportunities or risks for the company. Keep track of relevant media mentions and prepare summaries or reports as needed.
  • Event Management: Help plan, coordinate, and execute corporate events, including product launches, demo days, investor visits, and photo ops. This may involve logistics, content creation, promotion, and on-site coordination.
  • Executive Support: Provide support to senior leadership as needed, such as preparing presentations, coordinating meetings, and managing calendars.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and experience managing corporate social media accounts, especially LinkedIn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong proficiency in grammar, editing, and proofreading is essential. The ability to articulate ideas clearly, adapt communication style for different channels and stakeholders, and listen actively is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging and persuasive content for various communication channels, such as press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, and presentations.
  • Understanding of branding principles and the ability to maintain consistent messaging and brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse and dynamic Startup environment. Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience.
  • Full-time, in-person availability within Nairobi, Kenya.

Bonus Skills And Experience

  • Venture Capital funded technology startup experience.
  • Managing and successfully growing a tech startup’s profile and presence on LinkedIn.
  • Professional photography, photo editing, or graphic design experience.
  • Experience in event management, including planning, coordinating, and executing corporate events such as product launches, demo days, investor visits, and photo ops.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to gather and analyze relevant information, industry trends, and competitor activities.
  • Experience in community management, including managing social media communities, organizing events, and fostering relationships with customers, users, and industry influencers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
