Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) is one of the most successful and impactful local conservation organization based at UNESCO World Heritage Site Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (https://www.lewa.org/). NRT is a membership organization owned and led by 43 community conservancies in Northern and Coastal Kenya, which together comprise 12% of Kenyan land area. NRT was established as a shared resource to help build and develop community conservancies, to enhance people’s lives, build peace, and conserve the natural environment.


Internship opportunities:


We are happy to announce possible internship opportunities for university and college graduates from the 43 NRT-Member community conservancies across the 10 counties where NRT operates (Isiolo, Marsabit, West Pokot, Laikipia, Samburu, Meru, Baringo, Garissa, Tana River and Lamu). The goal of this program is to improve employability of the successful candidates in the job market. This is a competitive undertaking and only suitable candidates will be selected to take advantage of this initiative. Successful candidates will be placed with the Northern Rangelands Trust and its member conservancies in which NRT has developed an internship relationship.


Eligibility Requirements:


To be considered for an internship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
 Be a resident of NRT-Member Community Conservancies across the 10 counties where NRT operates.
 Possess a degree or diploma from a university or a college in Kenya.
 Preference will be given to graduates with no prior work experience or internship.
 Graduates with Entrepreneurship Skills, Community Development, Accounting and Finance, Natural Resource Management, Tourism/Hospitality, Education, Research, Communications, Statistics, Livestock Production, procurement, Human Resource, Civil Engineering/works, and fleet maintenance will have distinct advantage.
 Candidates are expected to organise their own accommodation (within the vicinity of Lewa conservancy), transport and meals during the internship period, NRT will only offer a small monthly stipend to subsidize internship costs.
 Female graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
