Job Description:

Job Title: Procurement Officer- Manufacturing.

Reporting to: Technical Projects Manager

Locations: Nairobi

Number of Positions: 1 Position

Gross Salary: 80,000 ( with other benefits)

Job Purpose:

  • To effectively and efficiently coordinate technical activities by planning, directing, preparing reports and ensuring smooth day to day operation in the department as well as ensuring timely installation of projects.
  • Procure local goods and services at competitive rates within the procurement policy guidelines.
  • Coordinate the prequalification of all local suppliers and maintain such records in the system.
  • Fast track delivery of ordered local goods and services to meet the end user requirements.
  • Track and report on procurement savings initiatives.
  • Track and report on local suppliers performance on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Champion departmental kaizen processes.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with key stakeholders/demand owners; Marketing, Warehouse and Technical to understand the scope and specs of their demands/requisitions.
  • Widely source for the required goods and services to ensure value for money for the organization while striving for a win – win solution with the suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain in the vendor master data ideal payment terms for each local vendor.
  • Share procurement decisions sheets with the demand owners and approvers to keep them updated on the purchase progress and decisions.
  • Process local LPOs within 8 hours after requisition and approval in 24 hours and follow up for the delivery of goods/services as per the lead times agreed upon.
  • Share Monthly procurement savings report.
  • Update Quarterly price reviews and file signed copies for Audit/Referral purpose.
  • Create and maintain Nav contracts for all local contractual services.

  • Timely delivery for local goods and services & zero stock outs of locally sourced goods (internal NPS).
  • Transparency and high-level integrity in the procurement process.
  • Updated procurement reports/records.
  • Robust high performance supplier base.
  • Value for money; Procurement savings.
  • Key Stakeholder engagement (Demand Owners).

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Procurement/Supply Chain Management
  • A minimum of one-year experience preferably in a busy procurement department
  • Proven high ethical standards with good communication, problem-solving, and networking skills
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • High integrity and honesty
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
