Our client is a family-owned and run company which operates a private mobile camping unit.
They are looking for a full-time Accountant to be based at their office in Nairobi
The role works as a support to the Accounts team and Directors. They must have the ability to work as an integral member of the team. In the high season, you will sometimes be expected to be available after hours to assist with issues that may arise during a safari even if you are off duty and working from home.
They are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills who is willing to learn and to be adaptable. They must be detail orientated, flexible, and happy to help out as needed
Job Description
- Accuracy and attention to detail are key requirements as is the ability to efficiently manage a busy workload.
- Clerical duties include but not limited to the renewal of business licenses, vehicle insurance, guide licenses etc
- Filing of receipts and invoices as required
- Preparation of the PayRoll
- Profit and Loss Account per safari booking
- Liaise with the operations department on payments to suppliers and keep an accurate record of payments made and received made and ensure that each client file is up to date
- Complete special projects, reports and other clerical duties as needed
- Assist with other duties as needed
- Prepare and pay statutory deductions on time PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, and VAT.
- Ensuring payments, amounts, and records are correct.
- Recording and filing both cash and cheque transactions.
- Management of petty cash including travel receipts and Mpesa payments, food and travel expenses
- Processing expense requests as required
- Bank reconciliation.
- Liaising with third-party providers and suppliers of goods and services.
- Assist with procurement and purchase orders.
- Maintain post safari accounts records including travel and expense reports
- Support team members when out in the field
In addition, there may be other reasonable duties to those listed above that you may be asked to perform from time to time.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements for the role
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a busy and demanding Finance department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting /Finance/Commerce.
- Actively pursuing qualifications for any of the following: CPA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Computer literate – ideally in word, excel and QuickBooks

Important details
Working hours 08.00 to 1700, Monday to Friday. Occasionally in the high season you may be asked to work over the weekends
