Every year USIU-Africa offers premier learning opportunities for those from an underprivileged background to receive a world-class education offered through state-of-the-art facilities.
One in five of our students receive financial assistance including scholarships, grants and awards covering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral academic programs.
Full USIU-Africa Scholarship
There are two full USIU-Africa Scholarships for Kenyan students (one male and one female) seeking to pursue an undergraduate degree at USIU-Africa. Applicants must demonstrate academic and leadership achievements and MUST be in need of financial assistance (evidence required).
The scholarships cover the cost of tuition, room and board, and lab fees beginning Fall Semester (September) 2023. Recipients must meet other expenses such as medical insurance and Student Activities fees.
Minimum Qualifications: Mean Grade B+ and above in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a grade of B (plain) and above in English and Mathematics.
Partial USIU-Africa Scholarship
There are two scholarships for Kenyan students (male & female) seeking to pursue an undergraduate degree at USIU-Africa. The Scholarships shall be awarded on financial need and academic merit basis to candidates who meet the requirements.
The scholarships will ONLY cover 100% of tuition costs beginning Fall Semester (September) 2023.
Minimum Qualifications: Mean Grade B (plain) and above in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent, with a grade of B- (minus) and above in English and Mathematics.
Scholarship for Person with Disability
There are two full tuition-only Scholarships for qualified Kenyan applicants interested in joining the undergraduate community at USIU-Africa. The Scholarships are merit-based and will cover full tuition costs effective Fall Semester (September) 2023.
Minimum Qualifications: Mean Grade C+ and above in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with Grade C (plain) in Mathematics and English.
Scholarship for Under-represented Communities
There are two full TUITION-ONLY scholarships for the under-represented and under-privileged academically-gifted students from Arid and Semi-Arid Regions of Kenya (ASAL) and one similar scholarship for applicants from informal settlements in USIU-Africa’s neighborhood.
Minimum Qualifications: Mean Grade B – (minus) and above in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent, with a Grade of C+ and above in English and Mathematics.
Criminal Justice Scholarship for the Civil Servants Studies
USIU-Africa is committed to supporting the government realize its academic goals by providing 2 partial academic scholarships that cover 50% of tuition cost to Kenyan civil servants seeking to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree program at USIU-Africa.
Criminal Justice is the government-controlled systematic practice of applying laws for the purpose of social control in society; and for the prevention and lessening of crime; and using courts and legal procedure, which necessitates penalties and sanctions for law violations
Application Requirements
- All applicants MUST submit their applications to the USIU-Africa Office of Financial Aid before Friday, June 2, 2023.
- For the ‘Criminal Justice Scholarship for the Civil Servants Studies‘, a complete applications will consist of the following 5 documents:
- An application letter,
- An ‘O’-Level certificate,
- Copies of other relevant certified certificates,
- An essay detailing the applicant’s background information and reasons why the applicant deserves the scholarship, and
- A recommendation letter from the employer (immediate supervisor or department head).
- For all the other Scholarships, a complete applications will consist of the following 7 documents:
- An application letter,
- An ‘O’-Level certificate,
- Copies of the school leaving certificate,
- Other relevant certificates (certified by the Principal or Head Teacher),
- A recommendation letter from the Principal or Head Teacher,
- An essay detailing applicant’s background information and degree the applicant wishes to pursue, and
- An essay detailing the reasons why the applicant deserves the scholarship.
