The PPD officer shall provide coordination, technical oversight and advisory on Trade and Investment within PPD department. The trade and investment officer cross-cutting issues relating to trade facilitation that affect business efficiency and Kenya’s economic Performance

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Capacity for active listening, respect for all people regardless of gender, race or social class. Ability to listen to and support colleagues and KEPSA members in a sensitive and participatory manner.
  2. Capable of managing and prioritising allocated tasks. Can work largely independently while remaining connected with the team and sector leaders within KEPSA.
  3. Demonstratable understanding and experience in EAC protocols. Working experience in AfCFTA protocols will be an added advantage.
  4. Demonstratable understanding of the dynamics affecting local, regional and international trade and investment.
  5. Ability to work on multiple activities with multiple stake holders and deliverables. You will be called upon to work on delivering challenging projects with time, people and financial resources.
  6. Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English and preferably also in Kiswahili.
  7. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office including, word, excel, PowerPoint

KEPSA PPD

The KEPSA PPD department is responsible for coordinating dialogue between KEPSA members, the Government and other partners on cross-cutting policy and legislative matters, to influence a conducive business environment and improve Kenya’s competitiveness.

FOCUS

  • Public -Private Dialogue with Executive, Legislature and Judiciary on cross-cutting issues that affect business efficiency and Kenya’s economic performance.
  • Develop and Implement competitiveness framework to track business efficiency and economic performance.
  • Support BMO’s to take up sector specific issues that affect business efficiency and economic performance.

Responsibilities

  1. Annual & Quarterly development of sector workplans;
  2. Scheduling and hosting cluster PPD meetings. This includes preparing meeting material, taking and sharing meeting minutes;
  3. Planning and hosting of industry and services cluster related PPD Ministerial Stakeholder Forums and related PPD meetings;
  4. Research, analysis and advisory on trade and investment policy and regulation;
  5. Delivery of trade and investment related National Business Agenda targets;
  6. Preparation and publishing of quarterly trade and investment position paper;
  7. Liaise with Sector BMO’s to resolve sectoral trade and investment issues;
  8. Any other duties allocated.
