Job Summary
IREX seeks qualified research consultants based in Georgia, Guatemala, and Kenya to support development of localized Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Assessments and landscape analyses of factors related to Technology-Facilitated Gender Based Violence in these countries.
Please note these positions are short term and part-time and based on the needs of the project, with an expected engagement of 10 days of effort per consultancy distributed across May 2023 and June 2023. The chosen consultants will work remotely; no travel will be required or offered.
Responsibilities and Duties
Each consultancy will perform the following tasks in one of the countries – Georgia, Guatemala, and Kenya
- Working collaboratively with the Transform Technical Advisor to rapidly identify key organizations working on GBV, TFGBV, and women’s political and civic participation.
- Identify and interview key informants
- Identify laws, legislation, and regulations relevant to TFGBV
- Document participant groups in current or recent conflicts, including political violence, sectarian or communitarian violence, organized crime and gang violence, and large-scale protest movements.
- Locate national data and other reports related to GBV, women’s political participation, women’s digital participation, and women’s broader access to justice, health, and sexual and reproductive health services.
- Catalogue any existing digital resource and tools to address TFGBV.
- Identify organizations, stakeholders, and groups who are or may be highly vulnerable to TFGBV due to intersecting identities, such as ethnic groups, locally and regionally distinct populations, people with disabilities, older adults, and youth.
Deliverables
For each country:
- An assessment report documenting the outcomes of tasks listed above which could include but are not limited to key identified stakeholders, outcomes of key informant interviews and review of national data, description and explanation of vulnerable populations, and review and analysis of current legislation and regulatory environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in in gender or women’s studies, international development, social science, or another relevant field, advanced degree preferred.
- Technical knowledge and expertise in gender equality and social inclusion
- Demonstrated experience with GESI mainstreaming on international donor-funded programs. Familiarity with USAID or USG GESI strategies, frameworks and requirements preferred.
- Experience upholding high ethical standards in research
- At least three (3) years’ experience conducting research
- Previous experience conducting gender assessments preferred
- Excellent written and oral command of local language spoken in Georgia, Guatemala, or Kenya and of English
- Physically based in Georgia, Guatemala, or Kenya required
