Job Title: Head Chef
Reports to: Directors
Location: Kilimani, Nairobi
A new 60-seater restaurant opening mid-this year is looking for a vibrant and passionate staff to fill the position of Head Chef. The restaurant focuses on exceeding the expectations of every client by offering outstanding customer service, increasing flexibility of services offered, and greater value, thus improving the customer experience.
Job purpose statement
Work closely with the directors for the financial, operational, food quality, and hygiene of the kitchen department.
Key Responsibilities
⇨ Menu planning and engineering to correlate with the concept and restaurant theme.
⇨ Maintaining the menu and food presentation in the kitchen.
⇨ Monitor the quality of food produced, the hygiene standards of the Kitchen & the Kitchen staff.
⇨ Ensure that the set service delivery turnaround time is adhered to.
⇨ Excellent customer service & resolving customer complaints by providing the required remedy.
⇨ Experience in creating meals for banqueting and special events.
⇨ Ensuring the highest level of food quality and palatability.
⇨ Ensure appealing plate presentation.
⇨ Managing inventory of stock and ordering raw materials.
⇨ Ensuring the food cost percentage is in line with the operational budgets.
⇨ Controlling budgets and minimizing wastage.
⇨ Maintaining health and hygiene in the kitchen by adhering to HACCP.
⇨ Organizing duty roster of the staff.
⇨ Training and developing the junior staff.
⇨ Ensuring all kitchen employees maintain required food handling and sanitation certifications.
Skills and attributes
⇨ Experience in fine dining (added advantage).
⇨ Strong teamwork and communication skills, A matured self-starter, self-motivated, meticulous, and committed individual.
⇨ Leadership skills.
Qualifications
⇨ Bachelor’s degree and/ or Higher Diploma in Culinary Arts or its equivalent.
⇨ At least 2 years’ experience in the same field.
