Incourage is looking for an Accounting Assistant to support our business accounting activities. - Handle daily bookkeeping operations with attention to accounts payables, banking reconciliations and petty cash disbursements.
- Daily monitoring of the bank and M-pesa statements and maintaining an up to date and accurate schedule of the debits and credits.
- Assist with all related tax obligations (WHT), statutory deductions and ensure that the respective payments are accurately remitted to the regulators and returns are filed accordingly.
- Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of all commissions related accounting entries and taxes.
- Review commission payment reports for accuracy and completeness. Able to verify and follow through, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of commission payments as outlined.
- Resolve commission related issues in a timely and customer centric fashion.
- Maintain an accurate filing system by keeping accounts payables and receivables records up to date.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules both for internal and external audit.
Role Purpose
The Accounting Assistant’s overall purpose is to assist with the daily posting and processing of journal entries and to ensure all business transactions are properly recorded.
The jobholder is expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organization’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives.
The successful candidate will ideally be required to start ASAP.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain and update reimbursement schedules related to employees and the company.
- Process the monthly payments and maintain an up to date and accurate payables accounts.
Requirements for the role
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, preferably in Accounting or Finance. CPA qualification (Completed at least up to Part 2) or its equivalent ACCA qualification.
- Up to 5 years of experience in a fast paced organization.
- Great attention to detail.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Computer literacy with special emphasis on Microsoft Excel and or Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of Quickbooks would be an advantage.
