Systems/Network Administrator Supervisor

POSITION: Systems/Network Administrator SUPERVISOR: Technical Director LOCATION: Nairobi, Kenya

Role Description

The role has the responsibility of installing, configuring, and managing information systems at the company. He/she provides technical support for both software and hardware to the users.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Install and configure software, hardware, and networks
2. Set up users’ accounts and workstations
3. Manage end-user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with company policies
4. Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that users encounter
5. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues identified or reported
6. Ensure security and efficiency of IT infrastructure through access controls, backups and firewalls
7. Install, configure as well as maintain storage and backup hardware inclusive of physical and virtual tape libraries or drives along with disk storage targets.
8. Involved in data backup and recovery.
9. Maintain data centre facilities including clean power systems, cooling systems, Fire suppression systems and environment monitoring systems.
10. Participate in all Disaster Recovery Testing and Simulation activities.
11. Maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, web-servers, email, PCs, local and wide area networking both hardware and software and mid-range server hardware
12. Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current systems
13. Manage virtual and physical servers
14. Ensure the security of the server infrastructure by implementing industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
15. Develop and maintain documentation about the current environment setup, standard operating procedures and best practices
16. Maintenance of the physical office access system and granting users rights as approved by HR or the Head of Administration.
17. Ensure compliance with company policies, departmental procedures and ISO 9001:2015
18. Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor and the management from time to time

Job Specifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related course or equivalent experience.
2. Three (3) years’ experience in related role
3. Professional certification in Networking and system administration (CCNA/HCNA certification)
4. Communication skills
5. Excellent troubleshooting skills
6. Hands on experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Should also be conversant with Linux environments. (Mandatory)
7. Server Administration Linux & Windows
8. Working experience in Cloud technologies (Aws, Azure or GCP)
