Background

Summary

Worldreader in East Africa is recruiting a Program Intern who will support the East Africa Regional Programs and eventually contribute to the overall regional and global goals.

You will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen project management skills in a non-profit organizational environment. You will report directly to the Associate Director, Worldreader East Africa.

Scope of Work

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative support tasks (e.g. printing, photocopying for Programmes)  
  • Conduct phone and e-mail correspondence with implementing partners as requested 
  • Research and create support materials under the supervision of the manager
  • Collect and document impact stories from the field (photos, videos)
  • Coordinate with the regional communications team to get impact stories out
  • Enter and update records as required
  • Collaborate with organizational staff on events and projects as needed
  • Support the programs team in specific programs intervention activities
  • Support documentation of program processes – significant stories, photos, videos, etc
  • Enhance internal EA knowledge management processes through different repositories
  • Participate in development of forecast, work plan and report documentation
  • Any other duties as directed 


Timeframe 

This is a 4 month unpaid internship opportunity based in Nairobi, Kenya, working physically, virtually and remotely, for 15 hours per week.

Deliverables 

A final report and/or presentation of the projects will be presented to an internal Worldreader committee at a determined date closer to the end of the projects.


Qualifications 

  • Must be a resident and undergraduate student  at a recognized university in Kenya studying Project Management, International Development, Community Development, or a relevant social science degree 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Social media skills desirable
  • Hands-on and solution-oriented personality is highly desirable
  • A willingness to learn
  • Commitment to time frame
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote work environment
  • Must have own computer and reliable internet connection
