Save the Children hiring Survey enumerators (research assistants)

Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners. Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH.

Save the children in collaboration with University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, University of Nairobi, Dalberg Research, and Busia County will be undertaking a research on urban food environments, consumer behaviours, and diets of children aged 6-23 months in the context of climate change in Busia County. The study will advise on models of interventions that can enable households with children aged 6-23 months to achieve sustained improvement in diets at the lowest financial cost.

The organization seeks to recruit Short Term Research Assistants who will be responsible for data collection during the study.

Please note that this is for the purpose of creating a Database that will be engaged on NEED BASIS for Surveys, baseline, and data entry activities. This will NOT be employment and the contract duration will be fixed to the duration of the engagement.

Location: Busia County

Nationality: Kenyan Nationals only

REQUIREMENTS FOR SURVEY ENUMERATORS:

  1. Diploma/undergraduate degree in social sciences or related field such as public health, education, nutrition, sociology, statistics, computer studies or similar disciplines.
  2. Strong research experience using information communication technology (ICT) with reputable research organizations will have an added advantage
  3. Ability to use smartphones and phone applications is a must
  4. Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills in English or Kiswahili is essential. Local language understanding will be an added advantage
  5. Experience working in remote rural settings will be an added advantage
  6. Previous experience in working with surveys and survey tools
  7. Good knowledge of the local language, English and Swahili
  8. Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s Vision, values and policies
  9. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  10. Should be a resident of Busia County.
