Karen Country Club is a leading Country Club in Nairobi and is seeking to fill the position of Executive Sous Chef.
Job purpose
Responsible for overall success of daily kitchen operations by exhibiting culinary talents and personally performing tasks while leading the staff and managing all food related functions. Works to continually improve member/ guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget and ensuring sanitation, food safety and hygiene standards are achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and implementation of business strategies for the kitchen that are aligned with the company’s overall mission, vision, values and strategies.
- Deliver the company experience for members/ guests and employees.
- Create luxury for the senses by managing the food preparation for a fine dining experience.
- Manage the daily operation of the kitchen.
- Keep current with local competition; adjust menu periodically to create a “point of difference” in the marketplace.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Five to ten years’ experience or more in cooking and managing a culinary team in an upscale food and beverage operation/ 5-star hotel.
- Degree/ Higher Diploma from a recognized culinary institution preferred.
- Four years’ experience as a chef in a busy kitchen of a reputable establishment.
- Demonstrated experience in hot and cold kitchen.
- Training in food hygiene and safety (HACCP)/ISO
- Strong team player with excellent people skills.
- Demonstrated creativity and passionate in culinary arts.
