Job Description:

Our company is seeking a highly experienced Health and Safety Officer for our operations in Nairobi, Kenya. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all health and safety regulations are being followed, promoting a safe working environment, and minimizing the risk of accidents and injuries. As well as developing systems, processes to ensure zero accidents internally and externally of the business. The ideal candidate will operate as an internal consultant ensuring we develop the business and product offerings to be as safe as possible. This will mean working with our product development teams, engineering, testing, and production, as well as general facility safety.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with Kenyan regulations and standards, and ensure we go above and beyond to have zero accidents.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement measures to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Train and educate employees on health and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage and maintain safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and address health and safety concerns and risks associated with new projects or initiatives.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes to health and safety regulations and standards and ensure that the company remains in compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, training, and compliance.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience leading in a health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kenyan health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.

Outcomes:

  • Develop and align with a safety vision for the whole organization that includes product safety, operational safety, as well as external communications.
  • Implement safety reporting, processes and a zero accident vision.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma Certificate

Location: Must be in Kenya
