Registrar Child Health And Paediatrics at Mater Hospital

Main Duties

  •  Provision of a consultative service for paediatric patients under other units or departments
  •  Ensure supervision for junior medical officers and to provide support for the senior medical staff in the care of the Unit/Department’s patients
  •  Review and manage referred paediatric patients at A & E
  •  In liaison with the Consultants, conduct ward rounds and review all paediatric in-patients at the wards, ICU, General Nursery and Special Care Unit
  •  Facilitate the timely admission and discharge of all patients in accordance with hospital policy
  •  Review all investigation results in a timely manner, and to ensure all paediatric prescribing is undertaken with utmost care
  •  Regular attendance both in-hours and out-of-hours according to manning charts or rosters
  •  Assist management in drawing up and implementing policies and procedures for the Unit
  •  Ensure that patients/families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow-up
  •  Participation in the relevant department/unit quality activities program(s) as requested by the Units/Departments
  •  Be responsive to patient and relatives’ complaints, liaising with appropriate senior staff and the patient advocate
  •  Participate in the management of patients in the Well Baby Clinic
  •  Participate in Cardiac Camps, when necessary

Required Qualifications for the Position

  •  Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery
  •  MMed. in Paediatrics
