Talent Acquisition Specialist at Aga Khan University (AKU)

Job Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end executive search and talent acquisition processes which includes but is not limited to; creative research and sourcing of potential candidates, resume review and screening, candidate assessing, organizing data and other general Human Resources duties, along with maintaining an effective talent pool of candidates. The incumbent will also be responsible for contributing to the candidate experience practices for the Aga Khan University that support the effective creation of a thriving talent pipeline and a continuous integration of talent into the organization, building on our brand as an employer of choice.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in briefing sessions with hiring departments and search committees;
  • Draft and post vacancy announcements to internal and external audiences on relevant job boards;
  • Develop and implement creative sourcing strategies to identify and attract passive qualified candidates including but not limited to targeted networking, database mining, use of social media, online resources, the alumni network, referrals etc. In addition, receive and screen direct applications;
  • Scheduling of initial prescreening interviews, panel and search committee interviews with the candidates and respective stakeholders;
  • When required, conduct initial pre-screening interviews with potential candidates to assess qualifications, fit and other relevant information ensuring alignment with the vacancy;
  • Leverage a broad range of resources to identify, cultivate and oversee candidate pipelines, databases and remain cognizant of executive prospects and industry trends;
  • Maintain regular communication with executive search team members to ensure quality research;
  • Prepare detailed candidate profiles and presentations for search committees; 
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for executive search teams; 
  • Analyze and track data to measure the effectiveness of executive search efforts; 
  • Stay up to date on market trends, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices;
  • Brief candidates at every stage of the search and selection process and send regret letters to unsuccessful candidates;
  • Carry out reference checks of successful candidates before contract issuance;
  • Support in preparation and issuance of contracts in line with AKU’s policies and guidelines;
  • Engage and maintain relationships with internal and external customers and key stakeholders;
  • Support the Senior Managers and Global Director TA in implementing a sustainable talent acquisition strategy and hiring plans for the University;
  • Contribute to the design of effective and efficient Talent Acquisition processes that meet the hiring needs of the University’s various entities, including evaluation of digital systems and automation opportunities;
  • Contribute to the design and administration of any pre and post interview assessments tools;
  • Contribute to the designing, planning and execution of employer branding activities; and
  • Promote a continuous quality improvement culture and environment across talent acquisition team function.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelors degree, preferably in Human Resources or equivalent. A related Master’s degree would be an added advantage;
  • Must be an active member of IHRM;
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in executive level talent acquisition, with indepth knowledge of executive search practices, particularly research;
  • Have hands on experience with posting jobs on social media and job boards;
  • Have demonstrable experience in creating and sustaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Have hands on experience with HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, Sourcing and Recruitment Marketing tools;and
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the full cycle talent acquisition and employer branding techniques
