St John Kenya is a first aid and health charity organization incorporated in Kenya under the St John Ambulance of Kenya Act, Cap. 259 of the Laws of Kenya with mandates to provide emergency medical care, promote charitable works aimed at reducing human suffering, and to provide technical support to medical services in the country among other functions. The Organization is looking to temporarily fill the below positions in Embu, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kisumu and Malindi.
- EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN- (7 positions)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to all ambulance calls in the shortest time possible
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of emergency medical equipment
- Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required emergency care
- Provide pre-hospital care to patients at the incident scene and in the ambulance within the scope of training
- Monitor the progress of patients in the ambulance and record vital information on the patient care report form
- Ensure the ambulance has the relevant emergency medical equipment, materials and supplies at all times
- Ensure proper handing over of patients to health facilities with proper documentation
- Assist in marketing and publicity of the St John Ambulance Kenya products and services
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a busy working environment
- Valid Practicing /Operating card
- Computer Proficiency
- The ability to work long hours without lowering the quality of care
- The ability to provide care in stressful situations
- Strong communication and presentations skills
- Excellent time keeping skills
- High level of integrity and professionalism
2. AMBULANCE OPERATOR- (7 positions)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to all ambulance calls in the shortest time possible
- Ensure proper maintenance of the ambulance and any other St John Ambulance vehicle
- Carry out daily and regular vehicle checks as specified, ensure cleanliness and follow procedure for reporting accidents.
- Ensure no wastage of fuel and that the assigned vehicle is fuelled
- Provide support in the care of patients at the scene of incident and in the ambulance
- Ensure safety of all equipment, materials and supplies in the ambulance and report any losses and damages
- Keep proper records of the ambulance call sheets
- Fill in journey log and work ticket book and ensure all vehicle use is authorized
- Ensure licenses and insurance is always updated
- Assist in marketing and publicity of the St John Ambulance products and services
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years driving experience in a busy working environment
- Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
- Valid driving license
- Valid certificate of good conduct
- Computer Proficiency
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili
- Excellent time keeping skills
- High level of integrity and professionalism
