Job Objective/Purpose
Ensure the provision of high quality surgical services by maintaining and keeping the operating room ready for surgeries and assisting in preparing patients for surgery.
Key Responsibilities
- Observations – Assist the anesthetist and theatre nurse in the recovery room to accurately take and record Temp., Pulse, Resp., B/P, etc., observe and record other vital signs and report changes or abnormalities in patient condition immediately
- Patient management;
- Assist with the transfer of patients to theatre in time for operation
- Ensure smooth and safe transition of patient back to the ward from Recovery Room / Theatre
- Ensure patients needs are met promptly
- Ensure patients safety in a clean and tidy environment
- Documents and keep patients’ medical information confidential
- Equipment management – Ensure all instruments are maintained, scrubbed and functional as per schedule and report any faulty equipment immediately
- Maintain and enforce infection control standards per the hospital manual and observe the infection control bundles (SSI, VAP, CAUTI and CLABSI) where applicable.
- Theatre Duties (Intra-Operation)
- Set up individual machines for different operations, avail all necessary instruments, sutures/drugs and equipment, and ensure all gases are available before commencement of any operation
- Assists the doctors and anaesthetist during the operation per AHC theatre policies
- Ensure patients safety following the 6 International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs).
- Observe and practice high quality of service through effective communication, prompt feedback and escalation of any unresolved issues.
- Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations.
- Ensure adequate knowledge of and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services
- Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor
Personal Specifications
- Diploma/Certificate in Theatre Technology from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a busy environment.
- Customer focus and results oriented
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills .
- Strong team playing abilities
- Highly responsive, ethical and responsible
