Journalists for Justice (JFJ) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing improved Africa’s journalistic capacity for social justice causes and accountability through training and effective online platforms and social media engagement.
The Assignment
JFJ wishes to engage a consultant, either an individual or organisation, to manage, secure, maintain, and provide technical support to ensure the smooth running of its websites, which include www.jfjustice.net, www.thevictimsbantaba.org, www.intahe.net, and www.neveragain.co.ke.
Deliverables
- Manage, maintain, and support JFJ’s websites to help the organisation achieve its objectives.
- Ensure consistent backups and high availability of JFJ websites and databases.
- Fix broken links and bugs; install, upgrade, or modify modules and security patches; and ensure the website is accessible at all times.
- Set up systems and policies to ensure the organisation’s websites are GDPR-compliant.
- Update features and functionalities while improving visitors’ user experience.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase and improve JFJ’s online web presence, visibility, and security.
- Constantly audit and assess the websites’ usability and navigation, and improve and optimise our target audience experience.
- Whenever necessary, design select pages of the websites and ensure the smooth and seamless usability of the websites on all platforms.
- Train key persons in the organisation on data uploads, including articles, reports, publications, and multimedia files such as audio and videos.
- Work closely with digital journalists to ensure content is uploaded in real-time.
Requirements
- Three years or more proven track record of developing, managing, and maintaining not-for-profit websites.
- Experience working with WordPress, PHP, UIX, and SEO tools.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience working with huge amounts of data and ability to provide insights into consumable data-driven decision-making.
