Role Overview

We are looking for a high-energy HR & Admin Assistant with outstanding communication, organization, and time management skills to support our HR Manager. You must be a reliable conceptual thinker with experience in recruitment and other HR areas and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. You must be ready to grow as Workpay’s product and team expand across the continent and the complexity of our HR requirements expand with them.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Format JDs, submit online job postings, shortlist candidates, schedule job interviews, and manage evaluations and offers.
  • Manage onboarding and training for new employees
  • Ensure smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality required while handling HR matters.
  • Organize and maintain structure of digital HR files and records
  • Assists with planning and execution of events such as trainings, benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties.
  • Assist with performance management procedures
  • Assist in carrying out exit interviews
  • Any other duties assigned by the HR Manager.

Required Qualities and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience as an HR assistant
  • Knowledge of and exposure to Kenyan labor laws.
  • The ability to work in teams and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, Cal etc).
  • Fast learner with IT: payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), performance management, and similar computer applications.

  • Knowledge of labor laws and recruitment in other African countries outside Kenya
  • French language proficiency
  • Experience with Lattice for performance management
