POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for procurement activities with the objective of optimizing supply and generating a contribution to operating profit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Observe and follow plant environmental and operational rules, procedures and guidelines.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing etc. as required by Ormat, Orpower 4, Inc. and OSH.
  • Perform supplier’s due diligence and introduce them in OMS upon approval.
  • Evaluate all suppliers before purchasing to ensure items bought meet quality and safety standards as required by the company.
  • Responsible for preparing and conducting contract and price negotiations for small to medium volumes.
  • Responsible for determining procurement strategies to ensure the long-term, cost-effective supply of materials.
  • Responsible for expediting purchases and supply sources to guarantee timely availability.
  • Raises purchase orders in OMS for general required items, stationery, and consumables for smooth running of drilling activities always.
  • Tracks order acknowledgement, prepares and communicates shortage and backlog reports, and provides visibility.
  • Transmits and prioritizes approved purchase orders and supporting documents to the supplier.
  • Reviews, updates, and maintains purchase orders until they are closed.
  • Ensures orders adhere to supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Review shipment documents before shipping, tracking and fixing shipping errors.
  • Expedite shipment delivery to the drilling site.
  • Apply and track shipments’ duty exemption approvals and maintain accurate shipment records.
  • Working with finance and accounts staff in resolving reception and invoice discrepancies.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
  • Evaluate complaints regarding the purchase orders and invoices received on shipments of equipment and supplies and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain a healthy group dynamic.
  • Keep the management team informed of accomplishments & ongoing issues, and participate in achieving resolutions to identified issues.
  • Work with multinational engineering and construction teams.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

EDUCATION. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of a diploma in Supplies Management or its equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in procurement in a busy manufacturing company or power plant.
  • Experience using SAP software.
  • Background in material handling, purchasing and stock control.
  • Knowledge of computerized inventory and tracking systems.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with a team, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic Microsoft office computer software.
