Job Summary:

Reporting to the Research Administrator, the nurse will be responsible for screening, collection of specimen(s) from participants, enrolment, follow up of study participants, documentation and data entry of findings.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS:

The Nurse will be expected to: –

  • Provide basic triage and offer treatment to study participants.
  • Collect specimen and perform malaria rapid diagnostic tests on study participants.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and participants’ privacy.
  • Maintains adequate amounts of required medical supplies.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and recording of confidential clinical data.
  • Develop and reviews study SOPs
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma in Community health nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registered and with a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be computer literate, especially in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Be fluent in English and Kiswahili both written and spoken.
  • Certificate in “Good Clinical Practice” and/or “Human Subjects Protection”
  • Be willing to reside in/within the study sites.

Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

  • General knowledge on maternal health and child development

Clinical Officer- 4 Positions

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Research Administrator, the Clinical Officer will be responsible for screening, enrolment, and clinical management of enrolled participants, as well as careful administration of CREDI and Baileys Scale assessment tools, documentation and data entry of findings. 

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
  • Be registered and with a valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Be fluent in English and Kiswahili languages, both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Be willing to reside in/within the study sites.
  • Certificate in “Good Clinical Practice” and/or “Human Subjects Protection”

Skills knowledge and Abilities.

Senior Research Administrator

  • Masters Degree in Public Health, or related scientific field from a recognized institution
  • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection
  • Proficiency in analytical methods and in using at least one statistical package

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Organizing and supervising the implementation of all project field research activities and performing necessary support duties
  • Serving as a principal source of information of study status and deliverables
  • Developing and designing local training and capacity building of project staff in collaboration with the study investigators
  • Drafting, editing and preparing correspondence, reports and other project related materials
  • Coordinating a wide range of research procedures and conducting a variety of tasks determined by the field and scope of the study
  • Working as part of a team in contributing to the analysis of results under the direction of the project PI and data team, collating, managing data during data collection periods (monthly) and providing quality assurance/quality control
  • Support the submission of periodic reports of project status to the PI, regularly suggesting additional tests or modifications in current procedures

Community Health Worker – 4 Positions

Reporting to the study coordinator the field technician will be responsible for consenting, follow up and retention of study participants. S/he must be flexible and work within the existing structure, in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in identification of potential participants
  • Consent and recruit eligible participants
  • Ensure consistent implementation of research protocol over time
  • Schedule participants for follow ups
  • Complete study forms accurately & completely
  • Ensure he/she has the requisite supplies in good time
  • Work closely with the data team to resolve queries
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive research information
  • Participate in monthly program meetings
  • Must be able to relate well with MOH staff and CHVs and the community
  • Perform any other duties assigned/delegated by the study management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in social work, nutrition and community health development or any related social science from a recognized institution
  • Training in GCP
  • Ability to ride a motorbike and in possession of a valid driving license endorsed as relevant
  • Experience in electronic data collection e.g. smartphone, tablets
  • Be a resident or willing to live and work in the study area

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to speak, understand and translate either Luo, English & Swahili

Field Technologist

Job Description

Reporting to the Research Administrator, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of public health activities in selected facilities supported by CARES project. In collaboration with MoH, the incumbent will oversee activities performed by hospital volunteers, constantly liaising with hospitals sub county and county teams to ensure adherence to IPC measures and coordinating distributions of IPC commodities and supplies to supported health facilities

Qualifications Required:

  • Diploma in Public Health, Community Development, Social work, or Counselling psychology
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection in the context of research.
  • Experience using electronic devices e.g smartphone or tablet.
  • Experience working in collaboration with Ministry of Health (MoH) both at the County and Sub-County level and its reporting tools,
  • Training in human subject protection and Good Clinical Practices (GCP)

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for reviewing payment vouchers, surrender receipts and maintain asset register per project.

Qualifications Required:

  • Diploma in Business Administration/Management, Public Administration, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili.

Job Description

  • Maintain an inventory register ensuring all assets are recorded per project
  • Examine payment vouchers and travel orders for conformity with policies and regulations.
  • Review invoices from vendors against purchase orders, delivery notes and cross check with receiving staff to ensure contract requirements have been met before forwarding invoices to accounts for payments.
  • Review master register against participants reimbursement forms submitted for reimbursements to ensure payments are posted against appropriate codes.
  • Review petty cash transactions before payments.
  • Review surrender documents before surrenders are submitted.
  • Notify supervisor when discrepancies are found for correction
