Growth and Partnerships Manager

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a results-driven Growth and Partnerships Manager to work with our investment team in supporting exciting scale-up companies in our investment portfolio. You will play a key role in supporting high growth technology companies, from across the continent, on their growth and expansion challenges/goals , unlock partnerships that will be of benefit to the growth of these companies and provide support on their fundraising efforts. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work day-to-day with entrepreneurs across the continent to build global sustainable businesses with laser focus on customer acquisition, expansion and distribution strategies.
  • Provide advisory to startups on their growth, partnerships and customer acquisition strategy.
  • Provide advisory to scale-up investee companies on their expansion plans and strategy.
  • Make introductions and connect portfolio companies to individuals and organizations that can unlock exciting distribution channels for these companies.
  • Manage existing partnerships with corporate executives within our networks well as develop new relationships, with a focus on unlocking key growth opportunities for portfolio companies.
  • Implement and execute creative ways to keep existing and new partners engaged
  • Evaluate and pursue opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and collaboration on an ongoing basis within the ecosystem
  • Provide regular progress reports on startups.
  • Facilitate relevant workshops/projects 

Qualifications

  • Educational background in technology and/or business-related field, with an understanding of business principles, practices, and methodologies. 
  • Preferably with 5+years of working experience in Business development/ strategic partnerships Management or any other related line of work.
  • Entrepreneurial experience or experience supporting startups or working in a startup environment.
  • Understanding of the technology and startup ecosystem
  • Strong networking skills to actively be involved with startups, venture capitals, and corporates & Concern for Impact.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and research skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Excellent communication in English (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

Learning Science Manager

Job Description

In this role, you will be working with a diverse team (education, research and investment) to support selected EdTech Startups from Nigeria and Kenya to effectively adopt learning science theories and sound pedagogical practices in the design of products to improve learning experiences and outcomes for their learners. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work  with the startups to improve their adoption of effective pedagogies and learning science theories in the design of the learning experience of their products. This will include but not limited to consultation on content/course design; design of assignments, exercises, and  simulations; guidance on integrating student feedback, etc.
  • Analyse  the strengths and areas of opportunity for pedagogy; develop and  implement a comprehensive plan of activities to improve pedagogy.  Emphasise diversity, inclusion and belonging in every aspect of  pedagogy.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on to understand target learners and their  contexts
  • Work with the selected startups and the research team to develop frameworks for learner performance and assessment.
  • Analyse and provide feedback on curriculum design,  delivery in learning content/course development.
  • Develop standards and templates, based on the African context to guide startups adoption of learning science and pedagogy in delivering optimum learning outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field 
  • 5+ years experience working in the education or education technology space 
  • Excellent Knowledge of learning science theories and instructional design models
  • Ability to design and adopt pedagogical strategies to deliver improved outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with research on pedagogical strategies and curriculum practices
  • Demonstrated experience working with learners from a variety of classes and age groups (K-12 to tertiary and or corporate learning)
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and school administration
  • Collaborative leader who works across stakeholders, promotes teamwork and effectively leads and facilitates multiple complex projects

Venture Capital Analyst

Job Description

The ideal candidate is a team player who will be responsible for providing support to the team on various tasks; sourcing and screening of potential seed-stage targets as well as providing startup support to existing portfolio companies.

  • Conduct industry and market research; Assessing market/company attractiveness to help identify compelling businesses
  • Carry out deal sourcing, screening, and review of target companies
  • Reading/reviewing business plans and pitch decks
  • Prepare financial models and analyze financial statements and results
  • Provide support on the due diligence processes of target companies (business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape, business/pricing model, and financial modeling / deal structuring)
  • Network with peers to build and support relationship within technology and startup ecosystem
  • Provide support with planning investor, portfolio company and startup related events and conferences
  • Perform other tasks as may be required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a university degree or HND Accounting, Finance (and or other recognized professional accounting qualification ACCA or ACA)
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years post NYSC professional qualification experience.
  • Experience in Investment Banking/ Consulting/ Startup environment
  • Passion for technology and startups in emerging markets
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated
  • Capable of prioritizing and working with minimal supervision
  • Experience with cash flow modeling and investment valuation techniques
