Job Summary

  • Attend and manage acute pediatric cases and emergencies as well as chronic cases and referrals;
  • Facilitating inpatient admission and follow-up diagnostics, review and management of patients in the pediatric ward and newborn unit;
  • Provide Clinical education to patients and caregivers on common childhood illnesses, childhood immunization and nutrition;
  • Provide breastfeeding support and clinical education regarding newborn care for mothers in the postnatal ward;
  • Ensure all necessary documentation as required is done in a timely manner and recorded as per the Hospital policies;
  • Keep updated patients records in regard to acute or chronic illnesses, surgical procedures and other significant clinical encounters such as allergic conditions;
  • Provide supervision to junior doctors through supervised patient reviews and clinical procedures, case presentations and continuous medical education;
  • Keep abreast of advancements in Pediatrics’ and best clinical practices by attending seminars, conferences and relevant clinical meetings/CMEs;
  • Actively participate in all clinical and administrative activities at departmental and institutional levels such as Hospital clinical committees, clinical drills, audits etc.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Pediatrics’ and Child Health from a recognized University;
  • A Certificate of Registration from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • A valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.;
  • Valid BLS & ACLS certification;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, patient and calm.
