We are on a mission to create Africa’s leading craft beverage brand, Kenyan Originals. We make fruit ciders and gin (both made with real fruit from Kenya), craft tonics and ice teas with natural ingredients from Africa.
Role Summary:

The role requires planning and excellent supervisory skills (shop floor team management).
Responsibilities
KEY DELIVERABLES;
1. Production & Quality Assurance -Assist the production process lead in the execution of;
- Planning; In collaboration with the production manager. Undertake various production planning activities; raw materials requirements planning, production planning, labour requirements planning and resource allocation planning.
- Ensure adherence to process SOPs and formulations to achieve the quality standards of all products
- Ensuring all products meet the sensory quality specifications set by the company.
- In collaboration with the quality department, ensure all raw materials undergo quality checks to ensure conformity to internal and regulatory specifications.
- Carrying out various in-process checks to check for conformance and halt the occurrences of non-conformances. These process checks shall include but are not be limited to; cold room checks on fresh goods, raw materials in stores, in-process checks on intermediary products and process floor checks on WIP.
- Planning and scheduling different production events such as trainings
- Working with the quality department to run quality and food safety tasks such as calibration, pest control, raw material analysis, process hygiene checks, CCP checks and monitoring.
- In collaboration with the quality department, addressing all customer complaints and customer feedback in regards to product safety and quality.
- Ensure GMP compliance is adhered to at all times.
- Participate in quality related consumer complaints investigations and closure
- Formulating timely production reports across the whole production process.
- In collaboration with the maintenance department, ensuring that machines are maintained in optimum working condition through adherence to autonomous and planned maintenance schedules
2. Food Safety
- Documenting, monitoring and auditing all process PRPs to ensure conformance to various internal standards. These PRPs shall include but are not limited to; personnel hygiene, cleaning and sanitation, pest control, cross-contamination prevention, waste management, storage of raw and finished goods, labelling and traceability, and equipment calibration.
- Monitoring process OPRPs & CCPs
- Managing all product non-conformances.
- Planning and scheduling food safety events.
- Carrying out, documenting and reporting the results of food safety audits.
3. Product Innovation and development
- Actively participating in developing new products in line with the brand’s agenda.
- Documenting all product development projects.
- Implementing new product development roll out with the rest of the production team.
4. Occupational Health and Safety
- Enforce safety at different workstations and processes as per the company safety policy and procedures,
- Reporting of unsafe behaviours, conditions and accidents
- Participate in accident investigations and closure of corrective actions as may be required
5. People Management
- Participate in performance appraisals for Technical operators and production assistants as per the companies performance management system
- Manage time and attendance for casuals.
- Handling of any disciplinary issues within the team
KEY QUALIFICATIONS;
- Education background- Diploma/ Degree in Food Science and Technology, Engineering, industrial chemistry or any other related discipline
- Experience with Food Safety Management Systems-ISO 22000
- 3 years experience in the Food FMCG industry, two of which must be in the beverage industry.
