Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the user departments to define the product requirements, liaise with the other Departments/Units on their procurement requirements, and ascertain supplies specifications as may be required.
- Source, negotiate with suppliers and coordinate the day-to-day buying activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Receive and evaluate quotations, tenders, and proposals from suppliers and make recommendations for award to the Procurement Manager.
- Prepare Local Purchase Orders in line with University policy and send copies to all the relevant parties after they are duly approved.
- Prepare and submit all required reports on the buying process at the specified times
- Maintain the filing system and keep safe custody of all the files, records, and related documents in their complete form as per policy.
- Monitor, evaluate and advise the Procurement Manager on the performance of suppliers and service providers.
Job Requirements
The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies or other relevant field.
- Professional qualification in supplies management will be an added advantage.
- Member of KISM or CIPSA
