INTERN NEEDED AT UNITED NATION- PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT (MULTIPLE POSITIONS), I (Temporary Job Opening)

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the interns’ assigned office as well as the internship period.

Under the direct supervision of the Inter-regional Adviser and Deputy Director, the interns will:
Operations:
– Assist with the coordination of programme activities, as well as monitoring and reporting of related
projects.
– Support programme’s database monitoring and management.
– Support event/meeting planning and preparation, including assistance in substantive tasks, such as
preparation of contributions, development of agendas, logistical support, reporting and follow-up
actions.



Knowledge management:
– Draft knowledge products and working documents, reports, and correspondence or concept notes.
– Perform analytical research of technical material, related to the themes of the Strategic Plan 2020-
2023 and support the production of normative publications, strategic programme/project planning, and
reporting of programme’s performance.
– Assist with the creation of data visualization components related to programme’s monitoring and
performance.

Communication:
– Support in communications and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
– Assist in communications and social media presence.
– Support drafting of material and or stories for external and internal audiences.

Task Opportunities:
– Gain insightful experience and knowledge of the United Nations and UN-Habitat’s mandates and
work, with respect to Member States’ demands and requests.
– Deepen understanding of technical issues involving urban development, social inclusion,
sustainable municipal finance, urban transformation in cities, etc.
– Opportunity to assist in the preparation and participate (at least virtually) in the High-level Meeting on the
Implementation of the New Urban Agenda, the 11th World Urban Forum, the UN-Habitat General
Assembly, the 12th World Urban Forum, and othersCompetencies

Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.Education

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent

Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).

Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Preferred areas of study:
Urban Planning, Architecture, Social Science, Sustainable Development, Data Analytics and Management, Communications, Finance, or related field.Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals in relation to the development of cities is required.

Experience working in teams is desirable.

Experience in managing multiple tasks is desirable
