According to a 2018 study, hiring managers devote an average of 7.4 seconds scanning through each resume they obtain.

When submitting applications for jobs, you only have a handful of sec to draw a recruiter’s attention, so your resume would have to be strong.

How do you write a captivating, influential, and effective resume that would help you hit more interview sessions?

Ascertaining your resume accomplishments with numbers and data can be one of the most straightforward and efficient strategies, whenever you are crafting your resume for that job application.

Hiring managers nowadays prefer to see bulleted lists of accomplishments in the work experience section of resumes.

For quick reading, these bullet points should be short, bite-sized, and easily scannable.

The most memorable and effective bullet points include examples of your previous accomplishments that have been quantified with specific metrics.

Whether it’s the amount of revenue you generated, the costs you cut, or the processes you streamlined for greater efficiency, you should always choose the numbers that are most appropriate and relevant to your industry.

Finally, any recruiter considering hiring you wants to know: A. Can you contribute to their bottom line?
    B. Will you be an asset to their organization?

Demonstrating how you’ve increased revenue, increased sales, reduced costs, or increased profit for previous employers can make you a desirable candidate.

After all, this metric works best with sales and business positions that directly generate revenue; not all jobs lend themselves to being quantified in this way. Notwithstanding, if you can quantify your impact in terms of cash, don’t be afraid to say so.

    Example bullet points:

    1. Created and implemented a company-wide strategy for digital marketing that ultimately resulted in $1 million in sales revenue.
    2. Coordinated a series of community fundraising events across over 250 individuals in attendance; helped raise $1000 in campaign contributions.
    3. Managed a group of two different business analysts to digitize repeatable workflows in Excel using macros and VBA, significantly lowering analysis time by 10+ hours each week.
    4. Oversaw a process re-engineering project to improve and consolidate end-to-end service processes; restructured communication flow among ten departments; and reduced paperwork by 75%.
    5. Created and implemented a customer referral program, which resulted in a 50% increase in referral business and $1.9 million in extra revenue.

When you accurately measure your resume accomplishments with figures, you’re not just making assertions regarding your abilities and experience; you’re actively supporting them with evidence, which will help you stand out from the crowd.
