JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role of this position is to provide guidance, advice, and support to KCDF’s programs in relation to grants management and to ensure compliance with KCDF’s donor and internal requirements.
As part of the Finance Department and in close coordination with the Programme Director, programme, and finance staff, the Senior Accountant will support practices to improve grant management and compliance across all KCDF programmes from inception to grant contract closure in accordance with grant agreements and other appropriate protocols.
He/She will also help to strengthen the link between financial and programme management.
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in commerce or related field
-Full CPA qualification or equivalent
Other Competencies/Abilities/Skills
-At least five years of work experience, with a focus on financial and risk management.
-At least eight years of grant management experience in supporting the implementation of donor-funded projects including experience working with donor rules and guidelines.
-At least three years of experience in a senior financial management role managing staff and reporting to senior executives.
-Demonstrated understanding of grants management, experience in grant compliance processes and project management including developing budgets.
-Capacity to undertake staff and partners capacity building in financial and grants management.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
-Experience in the usage of computer accounting packages, including Microsoft Office 365 and Excel.
– Risk management, payroll processing, and tax compliance skills.
– Knowledge of community development issues will be an added advantage.
– Ability to work under pressure, team player, and a self-driven individual.
