Full Stack Developer Job

Jubilee Insurance was established in August 1937, as the first locally incorporated insurance company based in Mombasa in1937. Jubilee Insurance has spread its sphere of influence throughout the region to become the largest composite insurer in East Africa, handling life, pensions, general, and medical insurance.

Role Purpose
The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of multi-platform web and mobile applications. The developer should have the experience to participate in the entire app lifecycle, right from the concept stage until delivery and post-launch support. The developer will work closely with the IT and core business application 
teams to deploy end-to-end and seamless applications that integrate with the wider Jubilee digital apps eco-system.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver across the entire Web/app lifecycle –concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores, and support. 
• Working closely with Web app developers to deploy seamless multi-platform and responsive apps
• working closely with business teams and other developers to conceptualize, build, test, and realize digital applications.
• Gather requirements around functionality and translate those requirements into elegant functional solutions. 
• Build prototypes at the technical scoping stage of projects 
• Working alongside the Full Stack Developers to create and maintain a robust framework to support the core business applications and other customer focus initiatives.
• Working with the vendor developers to build and integrate user interfaces to create compelling device-specific user interfaces and experiences 
• Standardizing the platforms to minimize duplication of effort and improve time-to-market timelines
• Continuously re-factoring to optimize performance for the apps
• Keep up to date on the latest industry trends in the web technologies space
• Explain technologies and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Attend industry events/conferences – both attending and presenting

Functional Skills

• Understanding of compiled languages
• Strong Knowledge of PLSQL, SQLite, MySQL, or similar database management system
• Experience in web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
• Good understanding of OO programming and design patterns.
• Good understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, Android, jQuery, Ajax
• Experience building web and native apps.
• Experience using social media APIs Ads integration using a 3rd party ad server (DART)
• Experiencing using and setting up version control (e.g., SVN, GIT)
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science and Telecommunications field
• Relevant professional qualification

Relevant Experience

• 3+ years experience in responsive web application development environments
• Knowledge of the financial, and especially, the insurance industry is an added advantage
• A thorough understanding of how to interpret customer needs and translate them into technical specifications.
• Administration of a version control server
